The MCP3550 from Microchip Technology Inc., Chandler, AZ, is a 22-bit delta-sigma ADC available in an 8-pin MSOP package. Features include 120 µA typ. current draw, noise rejection >120 dB in either the 50 or 60 Hz line frequencies, ±2 ppm typ. INL, 0.6 mW max. power consumption at 5 V, and output noise as low as 2.5 µVrms. Sample rate is 12.5 sps (MCP3550-50, 50 Hz rejection) and 15 sps (MCP3550-60, 60 Hz rejection). Both versions offer auto calibration with every conversion and an operating temperature range of –40°C to 125°C.
