RWG and RWBG vortex flowmeters from Racine Federated Inc., Racine, WI, use ultrasonic technology to measure tiny vortices that form when media in a pipe move across a strut. Number of vortices shed is directly proportional to flow rate. The meters are loop-powered devices with standard HART communications and feature low pressure drop, high turndown ratio, and high sensitivity. Software, used with an internal RTD and optional external pressure sensor, lets the meter compensate for changes in pressure and temperature to achieve more accurate gas flow measurement.
