Designed for challenging bulk solids applications, the MT5200 from K-TEK, Prairieville, LA, is a guided-wave radar transmitter that can handle materials with dielectric constants as low as 1.3 and bulk densities up to 50 lb./ft.3. A concentric waveguide directs the radar beam to alleviate divergence problems and echoes in tanks with narrow openings. The device can operate in temperatures and pressures up to 204°C or 1500 psi and features built-in linearization functions, and 2-wire loop-powered design with multiple output options, including 4–20 mA, HART, Foundation fieldbus, and Modbus.
