LDO Packs Big Performance In Tiny Footprint

STMicroelectronics’ STLQ020 low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulator promises to relieve the familiar trade-offs between quiescent current, output power, dynamic response, and package size. The device is suitable for use in battery-powered products like smartphones and tablets, smart watches, audio or media devices, and wearables.

The device draws 300 nA of quiescent current (Iq), and is capable of supplying up to 200 mA to the load. Additionally, the STLQ020 is available in a choice of compact packages as small as a 0.8 mm x 0.8 mm flip-chip4.

Other features include a dropout voltage as low as 160 mV (typical) at maximum load, 5-nA logic-controlled shutdown mode, an input voltage range of 2V to 5.5V, settable output voltages from 0.8V and 4.5V, and fixed-output or adjustable-output versions. The fixed output voltages are selectable in 50mV increments.

The STLQ020 is in production now, and available as a 2 mm x 2 mm DFN6, 0.8 mm x 0.8 mm flip-chip4, or 2.1 mm x 2 mm SOT323-5L, priced from $0.168 each/1,000. Checkout the STLQ020 datasheet.
