New Cardiac Imaging Exhibited at American College of Cardiologists Annual Meeting

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. /PRNewswire/ -- CardioMag Imaging, Inc. (CMI), headquartered in Schenectady, NY, is demonstrating its MagnetoCardioGraphic (MCG)–based cardiac function mapping system at the American College of Cardiologists annual meeting in Atlanta, Ga., from March 10–14, 2006. In a 10 min. safe, noninvasive, patient-friendly test, heart function visual displays of heartbeat after heartbeat of fully clothed patients is shown on a computer screen in real time.

The underlying technology is based on the world’s most sensitive magnetic-field sensors, called SQUIDS, which are also used in routine clinical practice for brain scanning, called MagnetoEncephaloGraphy.

The conference also features two presentations authored by U.S. and European cardiologists that provide comparative results and clinical evidence that a resting MCG exam is as accurate as currently accepted “gold standards” that are not only highly invasive but also very expensive.
