Meetup at Sensors Converge yields Dojo Five-Invicta teamwork

Sometimes a meetup at a technical conference leads to a successful business partnership, as is the case with Dojo Five and Invicta Medical.

The medical research and development company has been working on innovative treatments for sleep apnea and met Dojo Five at Sensors Converge, an annual expo and conference held in Santa Clara, CA.  The event features hundreds of companies engaged in sensors and related fields and partners with Fierce Electronics as a part of Questex.

At the 2025 Sensors Converge, Dojo Five was described as a company of “Modern Embedded Experts” that helps embedded teams ship better firmware, faster and with expert services and tools that modernize development and more.

“The Dojo Five team, as well as their processes, helped to simplify our project from beginning to end,” said Jason Sutor, director of external sales at Invicta in a statement. “Their experienced team of experts helps us save both time and expenses through the build process. Quick onboarding and no-long term commitment saved us from needing to hire an internal resource.”

Dojo Five described Invicta as exemplifying the agile startup approach often seen in the medical device industry, with just two developers.  Invicta faced limited resources, needs for specialized expertise with Nordic Semiconductor microcontrollers and tight timelines while complying with regulatory standards.

According to a late 2024 case study of their work together, the two companies met at Sensors Converge, then decided to partner based on Dojo Five’s experience with Nordic’s Bluetooth Low Energy tech and medical device development.  That background “aligned perfectly” with Invicta’s needs.  Dojo Five also offered flexibility with access to its high level expertise without a long-term commitment. And Dojo Five had the background in medical device development, including around regulatory requirements.

The partnership resulted in Invicta’s completion of development of an External Pulse Generator in time to meet deadlines for clinical trials in Australia. Costs were kept in check as well, because Invicta didn’t need to make full-time hires, but still had access to top embedded developers. Regulatory compliance was kept in mind from the start of the External Pulse Generator.

“Invicta Medical’s partnership with Dojo Five demonstrates how strategic collaboration can empower medical device startups to punch above their weight,” Dojo Five said.   Partnering with Dojo Five means companies can have access to advanced embedded software development expertise to enable them to meet aggressive timelines, the company said.

And, it all started, you could say, at Sensors Converge. Editor’s note: Sensors Converge 2026 will be held May 5-7 at the Santa Clara Convention Center.
