Aeris pushes past 100M IoT connections with help from agentic AI

IoT MVNO Aeris recently announced that it had surpassed 100 million connections worldwide to devices such as sensors, connected cars, and more,, an achievement its chief marketing officer attributes to its ability to leverage agentic AI to strengthen network security, visibility, and reliability.

The increase represents about 90% growth in device connections for Aeris since 2023, when it acquired Ericsson’s IoT Accelerator business. Aeris pointed to Berg Insight numbers that suggest IoT device connections market-wide have grown about 30% during the same period so Aeris is touting its growth rate as “nearly 3x the industry average,” according to a company statement.

The 100 million connected devices also represented 10x growth for Aeris since 2019. AI has had a lot to do with its recent growth, Aeris CMO Susanna Song told Fierce Sensors.

"While global IoT adoption continues to accelerate, Aeris outpaces the market through relentless innovation, combining agentic AI with value‑added services that reduce complexity and protect IoT deployments worldwide,” she said. “Aeris IoT Watchtower became the industry’s first fully integrated cellular IoT network visibility and zero‑trust security solution, giving enterprises the tools to monitor, secure, and optimize their global IoT operations.”

A growing number of IoT MVNOs and managed service providers–floLIVE, Soracom, 1NCE, Semtech, and more, in addition to Aeris–are starting to integrate AI to help automate some operational and customer support aspects of their IoT connectivity offerings, according to a 2025 post by Counterpoint Research.

Aeris’ press release about the achievement included quotes from several industry analysts. Among them, John Gole, Research Director, IoT and Mobility, IDC, stated, “This milestone signals the rapid expansion and rising importance of IoT. As adoption scales, greater data volumes enable advanced analytics and valuable AI-driven insights. Aeris reaching this scale illustrates how leading platforms are positioned to support continued growth and meet rising expectations for IoT.”

Matt Hatton, Founding Partner, Transforma Insights, added, “The significant effort to reinvent [its] platform as cloud-native and flexible has prepared it to meet the new demands being placed on it by 5G, Agentic AI, and growing cybersecurity threats."

Song also told Fierce Sensors that Aeris’ platform manages connectivity for more than 41 million connected vehicles. “Notably, two‑thirds of the world’s largest automotive OEMs connect through our Aeris IoT Accelerator Platform for connectivity management, or rely on our Aeris Mobility Suite to power next‑generation connected vehicle experiences,” she said.
