SENSORS CONVERGE–BrainChip Holdings Ltd and HaiLa Technologies, both exhibitors at this week’s Sensors Converge event in Santa Clara, California, announced at the show a strategic collaboration to work with OEMs and ecosystem partners to bring their combined capabilities to market across medical, environmental, and infrastructure monitoring domains.
Together, the companies will demonstrate how BrainChip’s Akida neuromorphic technology pairs seamlessly with HaiLa’s BSC2000 radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) to enable breakthrough power efficiency for connected sensor applications in IoT, medical, and smart infrastructure markets at a time when companies are looking at how to support edge AI processing without completely draining device batteries or breaking the bank on power costs. The result of this collaboration is an ultra-efficient architecture that paves the way for continuously connected battery-operated devices that can last the entire life of the product on a single coin cell battery, the companies said.
Specifically, the joint demonstration leverages HaiLa’s hyper power-efficient passive backscatter wireless communication over standard Wi-Fi infrastructure with BrainChip’s Akida AKD1500 event-based AI processor for anomaly detection, condition monitoring, and other sensor-intelligence tasks while operating on just microwatts of power.

At Sensors Converge, which is running from June 24-26, BrainChip is located in Booth #919, while HaiLa can be found in Booth #738. Both companies also have executives speaking at the event. Brightfield is a panelist for a session discussing the Edge AI evolution, and HaiLa Founder and CIO Charlotte Savage will be leading a session on Ambient and Intelligent IoT.
