Sleep sensing and AI bring together bitsensing, Ontact Health

Radar technology company bitsensing, recently seen working on 4G radar projects in the automotive sector, is moving into smart health management with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with digital healthcare innovator Ontact Health.

The companies, both of which are based in South Korea, said they are aiming to fuse bitsensing’s precision radar sensor technology with Ontact Health’s AI-driven health assessment system to offer more systematic and personalized health monitoring, including sleep data.

Specifically, the MOU calls for joint development of smart health management services; the creation of new solutions by integrating radar-based sleep sensors with AI health evaluation technology; and the carrying out of proof-of-concept projects and commercialization of services tailored for residential and senior care sectors, according to a statement.

The latest announcement comes a few weeks after bitsensing partnered with Zeta Mobility and KAIST in South Korea on automotive pursuits involving 4G radar. While recent bitsensing projects have focused on automotive efforts, the company last year raised funding to expand into a variety of different market opportunities. Based on growing interest in and research around sleep quality, bitsensing has developed a non-contact radar sleep sensor that can precisely measure biometric signals without wearables. Capable of tracking respiration, heart rate, and movement in real time, the sensor provides both accuracy and accessibility, even for users who cannot easily wear devices, such as infants and older adults.

Ontact Health leverages advanced AI algorithms to analyze health data and lifestyle patterns, offering multidimensional health assessments. Its platform predicts potential health risks, categorizes individual health types, and delivers personalized health reports validated by clinical experts.

“Our goal is to connect precise sleep analysis via contactless radar with meaningful health outcomes,” said Jae-Eun Lee, CEO of bitsensing, in a statement. “This collaboration with Ontact Health, recognized for its AI health assessment technology, is a critical step in delivering practical and next-generation health services. We are committed to expanding predictive, radar-based healthcare that enhances immunity and quality of life.”

Hyuk-Jae Jang, CEO of Ontact Health, said: “Continuous health management that takes place seamlessly in the background of daily life is a critical step toward making healthcare a natural part of everyday routines. Among the various aspects, sleep stands out as one of the most important. This collaboration with bitsensing marks a major milestone toward bringing such services into practical use in the near term.”
