Telecom service providers can't wish away the effect that social networking is having on their offerings, and that effect does not appear to be a passing fad--a thought once raised by critics who noted that the levers of social networking were not in the hands of the masses, but of a select few.
Now then, how to properly embrace the movement? IBM is sharing a few clues in a new study on social networking's communications influence. Among the hints: Working to create enterprise social networking for existing business partners, possibly acquiring social networking players to gain needed expertise, expanding collaboration capabilities and enabling social networking communities to play across all of their service platforms.
