Former Qwest CEO Joe Nacchio likely will head to prison in Pennsylvania next week on April 14. Of course, we've heard something like this before, only to see Nacchio earn a last-minute stay.
But, yesterday, a U.S. District Court judge said that among other things, lawyers for Nacchio failed to prove that his request for bail and a delayed prison sentence while awaiting a U.S. Supreme Court review was anything more than an attempt to stay out of prison. The judge also said Nacchio's lawyers failed to show that he is likely to win a reversal of his conviction or be awarded a new trial by the high court. The judge has not yet ruled on a separate request from Nacchio to be given a new trial.
